Artist Statement:

Joyce Woods was born in 1955 in Burnaby (just outside of Vancouver) , British Columbia, Canada.
She studied painting and printmaking at the University of British Columbia where she earned two degrees: B. Ed.(Art) and M.Ed(Art). in 1979 she began to create solo exhibitions of her work in galleries on an annual basis. She taught drawing and painting for eight years as a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at UBC during the 1980's. Her paintings, drawings, and printmaking have been exhibited in galleries in Vancouver, Edmonton, Seattle (USA), Berlin (Germany), and Kuwait and her work is widely collected. Between exhibition projects Joyce does private painting commissions and freelance art work for the Canadian film industry.
